In November, Arizonans may be faced with an initiative that, on the surface, seeks to guarantee medical choice for all citizens. Dr. Weisbuch was invited to appear on KAET's Horizon on July 22nd to offer a perspective against the initiative, the Freedom of Choice in Health Care Act, which requires an amendmment to the Arizona Constitution.

"The consitution amendment as written is a veiled attempt to prevent universal health care in Arizona," stated Dr. Weisbuch. "There is so much momentum in Arizona, and across the country, for universal health care that certain special interests are bound to use these egregious and self-serving tactics to protect their own interests, even though it goes against popular demand."

Essentially, an amendment of this nature could threaten single-payer systems that are already in place in the United States, such as VA benefits, Medicare and Medicaid. The people that rely on these systems may find their services threatened if the amendment is passed.

Stay tuned for more information during this election cycle.
